My name is Virginia Houston—I’m an animal-lover, a music-lover, nature-lover, and gummy candy-lover (among other things). With years of experience helping others and a masters degree in mental health counseling, I am here to listen, to support, and to encourage you during this challenging time.

Some of our time together in therapy will be used to look at common thinking patterns your brain might be stuck in that keep you feeling depressed and anxious. I used to be a school teacher, so I may or may not like to throw in a worksheet or two :) I try to stay away from too much ‘homework’ though because you have enough on your plate already; you don’t need to add any more guilt to your life.

We will also explore the idea that we have several different parts within ourselves that don’t always get along with each other. Just like how family members don’t always agree, our own parts sometimes conflict—leaving us feeling like we are treading water. It might sound a bit weird, but it’s really just a way that our brains have figured out to keep us safe.
